Is Walmart trying to discourage online shopping?

I loved Walmart's online shopping. I could buy cat litter, tomato juice, and other heavy items. A couple of days later it would appear on my porch. I still do the bulk of my grocery shopping at Walmart, but I haven't made an online purchase in weeks.

I've been patronizing Amazon since the beginning. It's the best place to get books—either direct or through a Marketplace seller. I was displeased when book prices shot up as if they were trying to dump book buyers. I was very displeased when the pushed Prime and raised the minimum for free shipping although they have reversed that.

Their customer service is abominable. I called them a month or so ago because an order was just sitting there and hadn't been shipped by the projected day of delivery. First the rep told me that an item was out of stock, then said all three items were out of stock so I should cancel my order and "try again in a few weeks." She did give me a supervisor when I insisted; he took care of that and gave me one day shipping as "compensation." I spent over a half hour on the phone. This wasn't the first time.

Tip: if you can't figure out how to get someone on the phone, call their corporate office. That number leads directly to customer service.

I had to call Walmart customer service once. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and American.

I order what I can get at a lower price from Amazon and what I can't buy anywhere else. That may be coming to an end. I ordered seven Subscribe and Save items. Out of the six shipped. they have used USPS for five and UPS for one. They were previously using UPS or FedEx for everything.

I do not have Prime and do not intend to get it. I think that in the last few years I have only once needed something right away instead of a week or so.

.

I buy from Amazon all the time. Their website is easy to navigate even with my old computer.

But I have been unable to use or even view the Walmart.com website from the beginning.
Makes me wonder how many other customers the Walmart site has shut out.

I have Prime because I have a Kindle.

I get much better service from USPS than UPS or FedEx; FedEx is by far the worst of the three.

I never call customer service if I can avoid it; it's too frustrating. Amazon and WM both have good customer service via chat.

What does Prime have to do with Kindle? Books come immediately to my Kindle Paperwhite. There's no shipping. ??????? I use my Kindle to read samples, but I frequently order physical copies.

USPS tracking is abysmal. UPS and FedEx have been perfect in every respect.

I love Walmart customer service. I loathe Amazon.
