Purchased Troybilt snowblower February 1, 2021 with 3 year warranty. Oil drained out constantly, last week couldn't get auger to work and finally it wouldn't start at all. Small engine repairman reported engine is shot. Called Troybilt yesterday and was told to locate a certified Troybilt repair shop which I did. However, shop owner would not help me unless Troybilt assigned them my case. I called Troybilt again and was told they don't do that and refused to help me further.

Called Troybilt service repairman late yesterday, was told she would ask the manager who may or may not call me today. If the Troybilt repair shop is willing to evaluate my snowblower I will have to pay them to drive 30 miles to pick it up for warranty determination.

If it has a 3 year warranty, they should honor that. I would write to the CEO of the company. My late husband did that with a lawn mower brand that every time we bought a new one after a year or two it died on us. So he wrote to the CEO and the CEO sent us a brand new lawn mower, top of the line. Go to the top brass.

Wow! I was looking at snow blowers myself including Troybilt. They are not cheap. I will avoid that brand for sure.

A few questions......

1. Did you buy it from a Troy-Bilt dealer, and did you save the receipt, and register the purchase online?

2. If you bought it from a Big Box store....Lowe's, Home Depot, etc., they will usually honor the warranty and just replace the item if it's still under warranty.

2. If it was leaking oil from day one, did you investigate the source of the leak, or contact the dealer and let them know?

Troy Bilt is a good brand...been around for years. I have one of their Personal Pace lawnmowers....over 10 years old....still works good, and I take good care of it.

Update: Contacted warranty department, I have to send diagnostic report from independent repair service. Find out after the report is reviewed. Hope to resolve warranty and buy a new snowblower before next storm. Bought at HomeDepot

Whatta racket.
Not necessarily. Note that oil drained out constantly. Oil doesn't normally drain constantly so contacting Home depot as the seller would be reasonable. Then there was input about being told the engine was shot. Possibly due to oil draining it was run low on or out of oil & the engine seized.

Seems reasonable to want to know what the problem is.

As Don suggested Home depot would probably have taken the unit back & replaced it when the oil problem was 1st. noticed.
