It’s Comfort First Now

It’s comfort first now; it didn’t used to be that way for me.

Shoes were for looks. Clothes had to be stylish & in my youth were definitely too tight. Not now for either.

Furniture is laid out for function, not aesthetics.

Meals are more about easy recipes. No larger gatherings.

I go barefoot around the house and sometimes in the yard.

I have to admit that at times I have caught a glimpse of myself in a store window and cringed. Just today hubby told me my tummy was showing....pants were falling down.

I still like my home and my furniture nice.....makes up for my sloppy attire.

Friends for dinner, keep it to a few but I am sort of asking around to the neighbors about chipping in for a pig roast.

What does your hubby's tummy look like?

I'm 75. If I were to go acourting, for jewelry, we'd get matching Medic-Alert bracelets. And probably his and her hearing aids. So trendy doesn't make it as much as comfort does , now. I haven't worn shoes in the house since the '90s. And, it's either keep the thermostat at 84, or wear a sweater. I have 6 sweaters. Most of my clothes were bought when "Cheers" was first on TV. All my furniture is old enough to vote.
What can I say, Vogue is not exactly hoping to do a four page fashion spread about me.

Even when I was young I was never a clothes horse, had some nicer clothes, but mostly jeans. Now it's jeans or cargo pants, love the pockets, I don't carry a handbag. Shoes are either sneakers or hiking shoes/boots depending on the weather and what I'm doing, around the house sweatpants and no shoes.

I stay home, mostly, so I've been wearing shorts or sweatpants for 19 months, plus an appropriate top of course. I am sick of my clothes. I want to be more fashionable, but I don't go anywhere, and I'm not inclined to get dressed up for my dog and my daughter. It isn't necessary to go through all that rigamarole.

Before I had kids, I was fashionable. Then I became a comfort first person. I've always been picky about shoes. I knew too many people who messed up their feet by wearing shoes that were too tight or had too high of a heel. I wear clogs now, so that is never a problem.

I had a wardrobe of work clothes. I guess you could call them casual business. Everything still fits and is still in good condition, so I'm wearing them. When they go, I might just live in jammies. 😃 I see a lot of people going out with pajama bottoms on....male and female. I might as will join the club some day. ;)

The only difference in how I dress, is that I get fancy far less than I used to. I have always leaned towards comfort over fashion!

When COVID first struck, last year, I found a sleepwear shop online and indulged in several sets of comfy pjs which I wear a lot when it's cold out. I also like jumpers over t-shirts, sandals when I go out in warm weather, and I go barefoot in the house and around it. I own a pair of sneakers and a pair of walking shoes that I have had since 2009. I have never been a fashion diva, but do like an occasional "dress up."
