It all sounded so nice...

....having dinner out with the divorced mom & dad of the sweet boy I nanny for. Ha! She was half hour late, he took her on for it as she sat down, and out the door she went with our boy in tow! NOT A GOOD EVENING, and easy to see why they're divorced. Not even the wonderful wine & steak made up for it. I was so glad to get home, but I've dealt with this for 4 years so it's par for the course. Every job has challenges and this one is no exception. The best part of it was looking forward to it all day....

Oh what a shame, Katybug. Would think she could've at least been kind enough to let the little boy enjoy dinner and visit with his Dad and you, too. Hard to be in the middle like that, but hope it wasn't a total loss.

The wine and steak were good, anyway?? :D

Yeah, he probably knew that she was late for a lot of things, and should have just let it slide. She also could have been a lot more mellow, and just let it roll off her shoulders without making a scene. Sad you couldn't enjoy a peaceful dinner.

The poor little one probably didn't understand what was going on. Sorry for your disappointment, hope you had a second glass to make you feel better!

Lil Jordan was not phased by what happened. He didn't mind leaving at all, wherever his mom goes he's not far behind. It's so hard to say this as Dad is the one who pays me, but Jordan is FAR closer to his mom than his dad. His dad can't put the phone down & is texting and/or talking on it most of the time. Jordan resents his dad for it, and for ignoring him, and tells me so all the time. So "enjoying" his dad is not part of the picture. Dad loves his son dearly, and perhaps it's the ADHD that makes him unable to just sit still and have pleasant conversation with his son. I find that so sad...

His mom drove straight to Carrabba's (sp?) for their dinner, then phoned me this morning to apologize. I love her, but she is ALWAYS late, never known her to be on time, so they each have their bad faults. But her lack of being on time doesn't affect lil Jordan.....his dad's incessant phone calls do....and Dad refuses to change...says he's doing business! It's not a point for discussion, we've all tried for years. He's a commercial real estate developer, but most successful men stop doing business after 6 p.m. and on wk-ends -- not him! He's good to me and I LOVE that boy, so I just have to accept it as it is.

And, just have to say, there was no scene. They talked very quietly, through gritted teeth, I'm sure, then the 2 of them left quietly, but they each made their point. They are by far the most oil & water couple I know. Everyone else who knows them loves them and accepts them despite their bad habit. I stay out of it and go with the flow, and that is more than challenging sometimes.

And, yes, the steak was wonderful & the 2 glasses of wine were also....BUT I NEEDED MORE!!! Should have ordered martinis! lol
