I give everyone a chance to write whatever they want without judging them or putting them on ignore. I don't judge a long post a "manifesto" or a "diatribe", either. If someone doesn't like what they are reading they can choose to simply go to the next post.

No one forces any of us to read anything. Well, unless you are being graded and have to write a report on what you have read.

Lots of people take it upon themselves to judge and assume MUCH. I think "reporting" is arrogant and judgmental.

Agree but sometimes I report myself .

Reporting doesn't moderate though - it brings something to moderators attention and then they can decide if it needs intervention

I've been reported and banned.

I accepted it, learned from it, took the proper steps to make sure it doesn't happen again (put the guy and a couple of his roving gang of conspiracy theorists on ignore, so I wouldn't be tempted to troll them again), and then I moved on.

I disagree.

Every forum I have been on admin/mods want people to report issues so they can be dealt with if neccesary rather than letting offensive posts stand or trainwreck threads continue unabated.

If mods don't think intervention is neccesary they will not intervene - so the person reporting is not in any way moderating.
You posted a lot of derogatory names for people doing what Admin has asked them to do

as for what makes them the moral expert or give them the right - the fact they own and manage the platform.

Like the owners of a club or organisation IRL - they decide what is acceptable behaviour in their club/organisation etc.

I ceratainly think that is ok and I am glad here is such a place. probably one of the reasons it survives when many other forums have dwindled away.
