It synced and now I'm sunk

Bought a desktop a while back and put my laptop in the closet with the intention of taking it to the geek squad to replace the fan. My 14 year old granddaughter had to move in with me in August and started her remote schooling using my desktop until I got the laptop repaired. Finally took my laptop to have the fan replaced. Took about a week to get it back because of hurricane aftermath.

I started cleaning off some programs I no longer used on the laptop. One I removed was this forum bookmark. I recall at the time that I didn't think I used this link on the laptop but obviously I had since the link was on it. Later that evening I sat down to my desktop and realized that all the links and programs I deleted from the laptop were also deleted from my desktop. I never knew the two computers were set to sync up to each other.

What a mess I created for myself. UGH!

Sounds exactly like something, I'd do. I am always doing one thing or another and manage to louse everything up. The more I attempt to rectify it, the worse it gets, so my son, usually has to remote in and clear everything up. I then get the standard lecture from him until the next time.

Suzy, take it to a computer expert. Surely they can restore. Or have you tried System Restore?

I suspect System Restore would just result in the same sync-ing. Perhaps the Geek Squad can unsync them ... and possibly recover the deleted programs?

Almost all deleted programs can be retrieved by someone in the know. When the wife was building computers and ran a computer store, this was an almost daily occurrence. Mostly it was people deleting something they wanted no one else to see (usually XXX rated) and in doing so, removed a critical part of the operating system. I think your situation would be a simple task.
