ChatGPT has frequently been accused to lean toward the political left. A new study tested the political orientation of other popular large language models including GPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok. The results were... somewhat surprising. Let’s have a look.

Bias in the models, bias in the training, bias in the post-training jiggering.

I am struggling to get a clear opinion of AI. It seems like there is a fine line between automated activity and the idea that a computer could actually think as the human brain does. Seems to me a computer does what it is programmed to do. Is AI simply an advanced form of login in programming? Is there really something here that just isn't making sense to me? I kind of feel like it is akin to subliminal messaging.

I don't understand this at all. The various AI models are sucking in content from the internet and processing it and developing a base model. That means it'll suck in every truth and fact along with all the lies and fantasies people mistake for truth and fact. Discernment, as I understand it, is based on a set or woolly rules, and deep insight based on all the data points it has.

So, in theory, AI (which isn't one thing, since there are various models and engines) could know nothing about Dogs today, but everything about dogs tomorrow. It's a constantly evolving model.

The AI that generates false news, tries to steal the intellectual property rights of creative people and mimics people's voices so scams can be perpetrated (sometimes to dangerous ends) are certainly full of crap.

Those are all user faults, not AI's. People ask it to generate false news for their own ends. It mimics peoples voices because people ask it to. Intellectual property, in the age of the internet, is a worthless concept. In other words, AI won't kill us, but people could use it to kill us.
