Its 37 degrees out right now and I just saw a couple of kids in t-shirts!

They're crazy.

But awhile back I was talking with a guy who is an old friend from the late 60's. He said when it snowed, the guys in his neighborhood wouldn't be caught dead wearing mittens or gloves around puberty time. He said his hands were red, raw and frozen from making snowballs but would be damned if he'd put on gloves....just put his hands in his pockets for awhile until he could bear more.....

What a hero, huh? :)

I just don’t understand why kids have this mentality. Today my granddaughter didn’t want to wear her parka, her snow pants, or her boots. I told her there’s no way she was going outside in this weather without bundling up.

Young people don't feel the cold as harshly as older folks. The skin begins to thin with aging. Personally I worry about my own comfort and couldn't care less what others do or do not wear.

Oh it’s no skin off my back what others are wearing as long as my granddaughter and I are dressed warm.

It was 42 degrees in my area this morning. Going out, I saw a guy in shorts and a T-shirt without a jacket on. He was no teenager, either!

A t shirt in 42 degree weather is crazy! I bundle up from head to toe in that kind of weather

Mind is blown. I'm not sure I heard this before, but wow does it make sense.

As you age, your body produces less collagen. Collagen is the building block of skin that helps prevent wrinkles, sagging, and moisture loss. Your genetics may contribute to how much collagen you lose as you age. As the dermis produces less collagen, your skin is less able to repair itself, resulting in thin skin.

Also, many older people have poor circulation which also causes them to feel cold more, particularly in the extremities.

There is a reason why you SHOULD care when you see certain younger types strutting around in T-shirts and cut-offs, in 35ºF weather: Those kids will get sick, eventually, and when they do, and they go to the nearest emergency room, without insurance, guess who will be paying their bill! Yep!

Very true!

Oh what a crock. GERMS make you sick; not cold weather.

CM, you are woefully uninformed: When the body is exposed to cold weather, all systems are pulled internally, to the body's core. The mucosal membranes of our peripheral body systems, including the nose and mouth, are left with lower immune components, giving opportunistic pathogens a better chance of landing on the same and beginning an attack on the body, akin to a platoon landing on an unprotected beachhead. Be careful with your attacks on what somebody posts. You may end up being the one taken to task! (Yes, germs make you sick, but running around in cold weather, wearing flip-flops, a T- shirt and shorts, predisposes one to greater vulnerability to those germs.)

Great gear for working a chainsaw! Are those moccasins I see? Guess if I wanted to use that accidental dismemberment policy I have, I could get into your zero PPE policy.
