Friday

The day that tells you to cheer up
because it's the last working day
before the much awaited, fun-filled weekend.

Wishing everyone a wonderful wk-end. I'm only working 'til noon, then going consignment/thrift shopping with my daughter. Since she has 2 children & spends most of her weekends in her flower garden, I'm looking forward to mother-daughter time.

Hey, this is the old folks forum. What are you youngsters that are still working for a living doing here?:boo:

Just joshin Katybug. You and your daughter have fun.

For me one day is like the next and the one before it.

Ditto! It's a long weekend here in God's country so most of those working folks will have a three day weekend.

Whew, RK, I tried retirement when my office closed during the bad times we had and I nearly lost my mind. I have a high energy level and wanted to be doing something...anything. But there was nothing to do. All my friends are married or still working, and I was bored to tears. I got so depressed, I had to take action. I got out of my box (had to, with no legal secretarial jobs available at my age & that was my only background) and I became a nanny -- something I had never ever considered. I couldn't have been more lucky, as he is one more charming and very laid back kid! It's worked out great! It's a divorce situation, 50/50 custody, but the dad is my employer/the one who pays me. At that time the lil guy, Jordan, was 3. He's now almost 7, and it is so much more than a job. The Dad requires almost as much attention as his son, but they have all become like family. Dad has several vacation homes and I'm lucky enough to tag along on a lot of their long wk-end trips. I have a good relationship w/the mom as well and at times serve as mediator between the 2 of 'em, so I do earn my keep. It can get quite testy at times, but this job saved my sanity! Not to mention my creditors are very happy I'm working. I can't live off SS & I like saving my retirement money. So that's my story and I'm very grateful to have found something that brings me so much joy.

Hope everyone enjoys their nice long holiday weekend. I'm like Rkunsaw, retired and not working, actually I prefer the weekdays, less people out on the roads and in the stores, etc.
