It’s Gone

I woke up early, but it was later than I knew…

Learned about a missing hour, what should I do?

How do you lose an hour, did my clock spring forward by itself?

That doesn’t make any sense it was sitting on the shelf.

I began looking to and fro, come out you cannot hide,

Still, I could not find it anywhere, no matter how I tried.

Could there be a half second hiding between the tick and tock?

I will have to ask the repairman whose works on my clock….

I looked in the basement, and out behind the shed,

But I’m afraid my hour is gone, that is my greatest dread.

Things I could have accomplished, the things I could have done…

Better yet with that hour, think of all the fun.

I will keep on looking, but I fear it doesn’t want to be found

For it left in the darkness when no one was around…

I will be more careful this summer, of my minutes keeping better track…

Then maybe by this fall….I will uncover my hour back….

Nothing to do for it but wait...about six months. I like it for another hour of daylight in spring and summer but sure do hate getting up in the dark!
