It's In Montreal But What Is The Building

This is a drawing I bought and am curious to know if anyone is familiar with the area drawn or the artist.

It is signed Clem 77 and listed as le Chateau, le Vieux Quebec20200424_130625.jpg
 

Lee. What a beautiful print!

I'm thinking the artist based his idea for the chateau in the print on an abstract thought he had.

The only chateau I am aware of in Montreal, is the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, and by comparison, the chateau in the print bares little resemblance.
 
Pinky, thank you for the link. Since my drawing was done 36 years before the renovation then as Marg said it was an abstract thought the artist had of the building in it's original glory.

Staying at this building is now on my Bucket list

I was told by someone who dabbled in art that it is an original pen and ink drawing but since I know nothing about art other than what I like I cannot say what is good or bad art.

Googled artist Clem but the style is not the same.

After all these years, the artist's style could have greatly changed. Is the artist "Clem" situated in Quebec?

Absolutely. I would say an old piece of art and abstract art done in pen & inch before all the new renovations were done. I stayed there once years ago. It’s an amazing place with incredible character.

Wow, what an experience. I have always wanted to visit and stay in the chateau in Banff.

Went there too in 1973 and then again in 1980.
The first was a public school trip and the second time was when I travelled on my own and then with a gf. We went to the Banff hot springs. It was great. I’ve also been camping in the mountains of Banff with friends. Being irresponsible kids we had bears visit us to eat through our garbage. 😂 It didn’t bother me but the girl I went camping with wouldn’t stop screaming. I’ve got pictures somewhere. It was fun. I drove my motorcycle there and the driving was so nice.
It was great, great, great with rainbows and unicorns. 🤣😂

I wish that spot that looks like a light did not show up in the picture. No matter where I placed it to take the pic the light was showing up.

I figure it's marking the spot of the room I will stay in.
