30 percent of world is now fat, no country immune
LONDON (AP) - Almost a third of the world is now fat, and no country has been able to curb obesity rates in the last three decades, according to a new global analysis. Researchers found more than 2 billion people worldwide are now overweight or obese. The highest rates were in the Middle East and North Africa, where nearly 60 percent of men and 65 percent of women are heavy. The U.S. has about 13 percent of the world's fat population, a greater percentage than any other country. China and India combined have about 15 percent.

I have actually noticed a big change in the last 5 years. At the beginning I remember running out of Extra Large gowns for the patients very quickly, even though I doubled the quantity. This year most of the gowns that run out are now Medium and Large and I am actually for the first time using the Small sized ones. I have noticed that we are not seeing as many obese patients as we used to even though nothing has changed here. Of course this is only a very small sample of population but I believe we should see obesity numbers go down in the future if we focus on healthy habits (and we pass it on to the kids).
