Love sugar cookies too but definitely not those made with white cake mix. Nothing better during Christmas weeks than the smell of homemade cookies rolled from doe freshly steaming out of an oven.
My favorite cookies would probably be shortbread or soft oatmeal raisin.

Jam-Filled Cream Cheese Thumbprint Cookies
I usually fill them with apricot jam, cherry or raspberry, but a seasonal jam, jelly or preserves like cranberry would also be fantastic, and so would peanut butter, lemon curd, chocolate, caramel sauce or dulce de leche.
