The ban has been lifted and they aim to proceed with bringing a crossbreed human-animal to term.
The reason (They say) is to eventually be able to harvest organs for those waiting for transplants, with less or no rejection.
Heaven only knows what they may look like, and the concerns that will arise over killing them for harvesting organs.
The ethics involved could be a real s-storm.

This can’t be true. There’s something seriously wrong with this. How will they stop the human side of personality from evolving.?
It’s got to be fake news? Is humanity that low that we’d stoop to this level?

They aren't expecting any sort of personality. They're basically just growing human organs in animals, but they have modify the animal's genetics to make sure it doesn't reject the human genetics of the organs.

How are they going to stop a personality from evolving? Does this mean they can’t talk?
Will they be hooked up like the Matrix movie?
OMG! I can’t believe this. It’s morally wrong.

They're still animals. They don't literally make them part human...not the way you're imagining.

It's like this picture, only a little different. Medical scientists grew this ear on the mouse to use it to replace a human's severed ear. That ear contains human genomes/DNA so that the human won't reject it when it's transplanted. But this is an external organ.

(btw, this mouse is fine...they can remove the ear and sew him back up)

If the Japanese scientists are successful, they'll be able to grow internal organs in animals. That's what they're shooting for, but, of course, both the animal that grows the organ, and the human who receives it must be genetically compatible with the organ itself...the new blood vessel, heart valve, eyeball, patch of skin, etc.. Therefore, the animal's DNA has to be altered.

Granted, it's not a great life for the animal, but people die while waiting for a viable transplant.
