Former "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno is set to return to television as the host of the new CNBC program "Jay Leno's Garage."

The network announced Thursday that the 65 year old would bring his "Jay Leno's Garage" web series to CNBC starting October 7th.

He's already been producing the series online for three years. Each episode lasts about ten minutes, but the CNBC version will be a full hour.

In the program, Leno -- who owns more than 250 cars himself -- will travel the country in search of interesting cars and collectors. The 8 part series will also feature actors Keanu Reeves, Tim Allen, Laurence Fishburne, and more.

"CNBC continues to invest in original programming as it establishes the network as a primetime entertainment destination — and who better to invest in than the king of late night?," CNBC Senior Vice President Jim Ackerman said in a statement.

The series is not only great for CNBC. For Leno, the program will combine his two passions: television and cars.

My daughter sees him driving around Burbank in one of his cool cars every once in awhile. I saw him once in a small car with a large light in the middle of the grill, no idea what it was. It also had regular headlights too. He flashed the big light and waved to us. :) He keeps a lot of his collection in an airplane hanger at the Burbank airport.

I cannot stand Jay Leno.

Jim, did you like/watch the other late night host? I know his name as well as I know my own name but right ---- OK, I just remembered it! :) David Letterman. I always liked Jay except the last year or two I only watched a time or two as he got to putting down other people in a cruel way. Too much like Joan Rivers and Kathy Griffin.

I resented how he pulled that dirty trick by leaving the tonight show and turning it over to conan O'brian then changing his mind and taking it back. Back stabber and liar. I don't care for O'Brian either, I liked Letterman but I am looking forward to Stephen Colbert....

Ok, I get where you are coming from. I thought maybe you didn't like his big chin or something. :) I love Steven Colbert even though I didn't watch his show much. I just seem to go through spells where I don't watch any TV at all. I will need to pay attention when he's back on the air so I can see how he's doing.

You can be sure I'll watch his new show. I always liked him and his sense of humor and charitable work.
He not only did his nightly show for many years but also appeared at our local comedy club.
He's always friendly and will always talk to you about his cars.

I'll watch him too. I didn't care for him when he first took over for Johnny, but he grew on me. I'll have to go back and watch the web series, I didn't know about that.

I was told that he followed some financial advise from his father. He was told if he had 2 incomes to live off the lesser one and bank/invest the larger one. It was reported that he banked his TV income and lived off the comedy club.

I do not know if the above is completely true or not.smiley-confused013.gif

Ken, I heard him say in a TV interview, that he has always banked the Tonight Show $ (many millions I'm sure) and lived off his comedy fees. I don't know if it's true or not, but that is what he said. I don't know what he's saving it for, he doesn't have any children.

Good News!
