I just finished watching Jimi Hendrix: American Masters on PBS station KVCR.

I've been a long time Jimi Hendrix fan, first heard his music in 1967. The show had a lot of footage of Hendrix playing in various venues, speaking of his life in interviews. Even had a clip of Hendrix on the Dick Cavett show.

When I was in Vietnam I listened to Armed Forces Radio, which would play Jimi Hendrix(and Don McLean!- "Bye Bye American Pie).

While on watch(shipboard guard duty) I had a small transistor radio that I could listen to Armed Forces Radio, it would kind of give me a strange feeling, listening to Hendrix play All along the Watchtower, sitting on a stool behind a 50 Caliper machine gun, with an M-16 in my lap.

I can remember going to a summer party when I was still in High School. They where playing Jimi Hendrix on a really nice stereo in the front room. I just sat right down and stayed there listening to his music most of the night. From that night on I was a huge fan, and it changed the way I looked at music and played it. It's crazy, that was one of the best times I ever had partying back then, and I spent most of it sitting on a chair in the front room.

Thank you tnthomas, for your Post and the PBS American Masters link. I'll be sure to watch it.. :)

My friend and I really liked Hendrix in the 60s, I had his Are You Experienced album. Hard to find decent videos of him online though, looked up some of my favorite songs and the words don't match his lips or it's edited, or isn't even him singing. Maybe I didn't look hard enough.
