A Quiet American
Apparently Sony is putting out a new movie about Julia Childs, staring herself. I will look forward to seeing this. Julia always radiated such confidence and kindness... and a quirky sense of humor.
She could be earthy or whimsical. I remember her painting the insides of tiny paper bags (the insides of which came with a coating like wax paper) with melted chocolate; allowing it to dry/harden. Then--voila!--rip off the paper bag and you have a Chocolate Bag! She put a serving of ripe raspberries in it and arranged it on the plate so it looked like it was spilling out the raspberries.
And of course how she took the flops in stride and just "went on with the show." Great lady.
What are your fave Julia Child memories?
