In 2001,she and Christopher Plummer appeared live in TV version of'On Golden Pond' playing Ethel&Norman Thayer.I remember watching this,they were goodThis was the 1st time since'Sound of Music' '65 they had appeared together.

She has won numerous awards:

She's always been one of my favorite actresses. Such a great tragedy about her voice, but like the trooper she is, she's carried on with her acting roles. She's a great comedienne. I loved the specials she did in the 1980's with Carol Burnett - they have a close friendship and played off one another so well.

My favorite movie of Dame Andrews was one of her least successful: "Star", the bio of Gertrude Lawrence, with Daniel Massey playing Noel Coward. I always thought it did poorly because it came out at the same time as "Funny Girl" with Barbra Steisand, and FG got all the publicity because everyone was so surprised Streisand could truly act. "Star" is a wonderful movie and very underrated.

My second favorite is "SOB", ruined only by husband Blake Edwards' inability to restrain his tendency to encourage the overacting of Richard Mulligan (ugh!) and Loretta Swit. Andrews, Robert Vaughn, and Robert Preston nail their performances, in contrast.

Third is "Victor/Victoria". I would have liked this movie better with some other actor than James Garner. I usually like him but not in this role. He was just not believable to me. Even Alex Karras, who will never come within a 100-yd touchdown runback for an Oscar, did a better job in his role than Garner as the romantic lead. Lesley Ann Warren and Robert Preston, OTOH, were flawless.

Sadly, it was the Broadway run of V/V that led to the botched surgery on Andrews' larynx. It took four additional operations to enable improvement to her speaking voice, although they could do nothing to restore her four-octave singing voice.
