Looking down the list of posters, I see I'm not the only one with a love for Georgia! :love_heart:

I'm GeorgiaGyrl, aka Wanda, and while I don't currently live in GA, that's where my heart is. I had to leave North Gwinnett County to come to Maryland and take care of my father. (Too bad I couldn't convince him to come live with me there, am I right??:D

I'm 55, not working right now but it's not by choice. This society seems to have such a problem with hiring older workers; unless of course you're running for President or you're related to the owner! I was a federal contractor, and as happens, the contract closed and my company didn't win the bid for the new contract. Not long after that, I had an injury which kept me out for like 6 months, so by the time I was fully recovered I had to deal with both my age and the fact that I'd been out of work so long. Been nothing but downhill ever since.

A Cenergenics commercial is what brought me here; after waiting for the end of the commercial to see what 'wonder drug' they were promoting and there wasn't one, I just had to go online and look it up. This forum was in the Google Search list, so I came here and read the page on it. <smh> Wild opinions some folks have!!

Hope to get involved in some lively discussions, learn a thing or two, perhaps even make some friends....

Hello Wanda, and welcome to the forum. If I remember that Cenergenics Thread, I think it ran on for 55 years!:) Forget what you heard, we have a lovely bunch of coconuts here, just shake the tree!

welcome from the Thumb ...sorry to hear about the job loss, I kind of did that only took my pension and SS and a part time job and am living happy ever after.....so far

Welcome!

*In red below*......I know how you feel! I left my last job when I was 58, so wife and I could move away from cold winter weather. She quit her job as well. After looking AND looking AND looking even more, I had to take SS Early Retirement at 62. Was able to get EUI (Emergency Unemployment Insurance) for being out of work for a year, but when that ended, just prior to turning 62, and still no interviews coming in, wife and I decided for me to do the SS Early Retirement thing so I'd have some money coming in. I continued looking for a job, but with absolutely NO success. Things going against me: no college degree, no certification, how long I'd been out of work and my age. Wife has never had a problem getting a job b/c of her Bachelor's Degree and all the experience she has in Accounting/Financing and as a Analyst.
