just checking in...

Good evening to all- I have a few minutes, so I thought I'd drop in and say howdy to all.
We're still in Phoenix, still helping look after grandsons, and all of our clothes are much too lose on us. Who needs a membership to a fitness club if you've got grandsons?
I did get to go fishing this past weekend up in the White Mountains- I even caught some fish, and that was nice. Got to see some elk and eagles on this trip which was very nice.
Every day in every way, I know that I was not cut out to live in the big city. I never liked people in large groups, and now I live amongst 4.5 million other folks- very uneasily, I must admit. I miss the quiet of the country and the ability to just get away to the water whenever I want it.
But I am getting to work with Grands, and that's nice.
So, we're still here, and we're still getting along.
Life is full of surprises.
Good evening to all- Ed

Hi Ed, thanks for the update! Nice you got to go fishing and enjoy some wildlife out in nature, that is excellent! I'm with you on the preference of living in the country as opposed to a big city, right now I'm in the suburbs and will be content with that in my retirement years. Spending quality time with the grandchildren evens everything out it seems, glad you're getting along and rolling with the surprises.

Ed, With no profile, I can't tell where you're talking about.

As you can plainly see, I'm in California.

Hi Ed, sorry you are not living where your really like but have your grands anyways. Must have been nice to go fishing in the mountains. Nice to hear from you as always.

Hi Ed,glad you got to go fishing.I have to young grandsons also so I know exactly what you mean. Two years ago my daughter and family lived in Oregon. We took a road trip to visit them. We went clamming one day. I had the time of my life. I display my shellfish license in a little frame on my frig as a reminder of that day, I never had one before. We went to bed early that night, bone tired, in my daughter's loft and could smell the clam broth cooking as my daughter and her husband shucked the clams for chowder..

Ed, good that you checked in! Life sometimes does not turn out like we had planned but you have to make the best of it. Sounds like you are making some memories for those grandkids and that is important right now. Hang in there and it will all work out! But remember, to take care of yourself. You got some young ones depending on you to be there!

Ed, I love your line about who needs a fitness club when you've got grandsons. I feel the same way you do about cities and population density, but as long as you're able to keep connecting with nature, I hope it eases the discomfort of city living. You have very lucky grandkids to have you around.
