went to kitchen sink and thougt I heard drip drip of water...anyhoo after a lot
of checking under sink and so on I opened the furnace/water heater door, and waaalllaaaaaaa, water spraying all over....it was the stainless fitting above
the heater that was spraying and so what a damn mess...luckily the landlord
was home and came pretty fast, took the hose off and went and got a new on
and installed that....so no more leak....got the a/c running, a big a%% commerical humidfier and a big fan blowing on that little room so it will all
dry out.....too much excitement at my age !!!!!🥵

Wow..that does sounds like some excitement!

Good thing your landlord was home and came to your rescue.
With the wknd it would have been hard to find a repairman or at least one that didnt charge you an arm and a leg.

Hot water heaters can be quite a surprise at the worst of times.

Good to know where the shut off is.

For Sure!! One of the most important things a person should know is where to shut the water off if a leak develops. A broken hose or pipe can quickly turn a residence into a massive mess.
I may be a bit "overcautious", but when we leave the house for more than a short run to the stores, I always close the main valve in the garage. Years ago, we had a water heater leak, which made a minor mess in the basement....luckily, there was a drain nearby. After that, I adopted my shut off habit.
