I can see a lot of Brits are on board. I never met one I didn't like, so I look forward to getting to know even more.

Hope I don't appear to be too nosy, and this question is for all the members...what part of your country are you from? I'm from North Carolina.

Hi, Katybug, and welcome to the Seniors forum ! I am from northern Alabama, so same general area as you are from.
There is a forum thread called "so where are you from", and most of us posted on that thread, so you can get an idea who is from where; and it is a great one for you to be able to tell us a little more about where you live, if you like to share that.

Thank you so much! I look forward to checking it out.

Central Coast of California along Monterey Bay, here, Katybug. As for the Brits . . . I, too, have never met one I didn't like . . . but one can still hope... :playful:

Hi Katybug. there are a few Australians here too.I am from the Gold Coast,Queensland, which is the state at the top right hand of the map. Tropical State of Australia and the Gold Coast is thought of as the Tourist Capitol of Australia. I was born in England in Lincolnshire, but left there when 12 years old and eventually became an Aussie citizen about 50 years later.

Charlotte is a beautiful city.. have family there.. they say you've had your fair share of rain this year. :)

Oh my gosh, Mom, we've had more rain this summer than I can ever remember. Produce is sky high because crops were ruined. But I'm not complaining, as our east coast (4 hrs away) has been spared hurricanes for some time and the tornados and fires that have plagued so many other areas haven't been a problem to us.

What a small world with some of your family living here. Where do they live? Wouldn't it be funny if we were neighbors? I have a condo in the Myers Park area, near downtown. The banking industry put us on the map. Bank of America and Wachovia/now Wells Fargo began here and now is EVERYWHERE. It has increased our residents 100 fold. When I moved here 45 years ago it was a large city, but no where near the size it is now. And I know Houston is even bigger, so you deal with wretched traffic conditions everyday as well.

Katybug, glad you all are away from the coast and the hurricane threat that can come up that way.. Relatives are not in the downtown area ... closer to Lancaster Hwy (?) and minutes away from state line.

As for Houston traffic, it's a mind-boggling experience! .. I don't deal with it anymore, but feel sorry for those that do.

(Funny .. I posted the picture below in that other thread ... just to be humorous ... people may have thought that was a regular occurence on Houston city streets. That is a photo from the yearly Rodeo, and the trail riders that come for the two-week party in February. .. This picture was posted in the New York Times ...hehe) ...
Only time horses will ever be on the freeways. :D

Boo's Mom: Relatives are not in the downtown area ... closer to Lancaster Hwy (?) and minutes away from state line.

One of my closest friends & her d/h just moved to that area. They have to be kinda neighbors, as it's only a few minutes from the SC state line for them as well. Takes me about 30 min to get there. That section of town is growing like crazy, new construction everywhere....very nice area. In fact, when I was married we lived there for a few years but it was nothing at all like it is now. We thought we were way out in the 'burbs. Charlotte has just grown into it.

If you ever come to visit, we'll have to get together for coffee.
:)

LOL I saw the picture and knew it was posted w/humor. I've never been to TX, but felt very confident this wasn't an everyday traffic fiasco. :)
