Kind of like a senior/disabled travel group.

I love to go day trips and occasionally overnight. I'm also disabled, I use a wheelchair. I can transfer and drive, though. I know I can't be the only person, who is a senior, and may have mobility issues, and wants to get out of the house once in a while. So, I'm wondering how to get a group of us, in the same boat, to hire a bus to go someplace, maybe once a month. Kind of like a senior/disabled travel group. Any ideas on how to get started?????

It's a good idea, so I hope you can find or establish something. Our senior "travel group" around here are the Atlantic City (AC) casino bus passengers. Many are seniors and the casinos are full of them, either looking to make some money, spend down their assets or cure their boredom. The company I use when I'm going to our AC timeshare is very nice and the bathrooms are very clean but I think it would be difficult, if not impossible for someone in a wheelchair to get to them and in them because of the narrowness of the aisles and of the way the bathrooms are configured. That makes me wonder if there are special buses with wider aisles and specially positioned bathrooms available.

I can't do more than day trips at the moment, as I've no one to look after kitten, as daughter comes with me on travels. I'm disabled, 51 years of pain due to back injuries in my teens. Use a cane to walk.

I know that daughter wouldn't be able to come as some groups are age-specific. But it does sound fun for the ones I've read about online.

Currently doing day trips offered by main bus line company. Good prices and fun activities in them, so far haven't seen minimum age for these, yet!

@fuzzybuddy Is there a senior center in your area. Or adult mobile parks or communities that may plan trips. Could you call around? There are groups I believe. It's just finding them.

I live in a 55+ community with about 9000 residents. There is a travel club that runs bus trips to a lot of different destinations. I have not joined, but a number of others have done so. A lot of them are quite a bit younger than me, but still are retirees.

I live in the sticks, so there's not much here. We do have senior citizens centers. But most of the seniors are widows living off Soc.Sec. They come for the warm meal at the centers, so they aren't financially able to afford day trips.

If any of you do get a chance to travel with or meet with a group of members of this forum I suggest you do it. I've had that opportunity with other Internet groups, sometimes for business, sometimes socially. It was a good experience every time.
