King Charles III, his fascinating life

"King Charles III and Queen Camilla hosted their first garden party at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland just weeks after a series of family dramas unfolded after their coronation."

"Despite the drama swirling around the royal family, this is the king and queen's second-ever garden party in their new roles after an earlier one at Buckingham Palace this spring. "

"The royal couple are in Northern Ireland as part of a two-day visit to some of the nation's six counties. Although royal visits to the region are few and far between due to the decades of troubles surrounding Irish Republicanism and anti-monarchism, Sinn Féin Vice President Michelle O’Neill remains optimistic about the visit. "Yes, I think there’s a whole raft of engagements and some of our MPs will be at local events in their constituencies," the politician confirmed when asked about the king and queen's tour."

King Charles' five-day visit to Romania to end in the Transylvanian town of Viscri

AA1cbBwP.img

"King Charles' five-day visit to Romania is set to conclude on Tuesday, June 6, with a visit to the Transylvanian village of Viscri."

"Britain's King Charles III arrived in Bucharest on Friday afternoon, June 2, where he was welcomed by president Klaus Iohannis at the Cotroceni Palace. At the reception in Bucharest, the king said he has "always felt rather at home in Romania" in reference to his links to the infamous Vlad the Impaler through his great-grandmother Queen Mary."

" Afterwards, as the visit was largely private, the king preferred to stay at the house in Valea Zălanului and take short walks in nature. Tourists came to the area from all parts of the country to speak with His Majesty. They offered him traditional delicacies, which Charles graciously accepted as he spoke with them."

"King Charles was received by locals and children with flowers and "welcome" messages when he arrived in Valea Zălanului, where he owns three guesthouses that are 100 years old and that he has restored. He visits the small village, home to just 120 inhabitants, located in the county of Covasna, as often as he can."

BUCHAREST -- " In a photograph from 2015, then Prince Charles, smiling and casually dressed in chinos and a white shirt, has one hand on a tape measure as he helps to gauge the circumference of the trunk of a huge oak tree, situated in a lush green pasture in Covasna county in Romania's central region of Transylvania."

"The image of the future British king and the giant 250-year-old oak tree, with a circumference of nearly 4.2 meters, was the first entry in a database called the Remarkable Trees Of Romania, which allowed Romanians across the country to upload images of the ancient -- or just important -- trees in their communities."

"The image of the Covasna tree is accompanied by Charles's signature and a short description: 'The tree is an important part of the tree pasture. It's a veteran tree that deserves respect and love,' he wrote in English."

"Eight years later, King Charles III has been visiting Romania, his first trip abroad after being crowned on May 6 following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. After being welcomed by President Klaus Iohannis at the Cotroceni Palace, the presidential residence in Bucharest, the British sovereign spent most of his five-day trip in Transylvania." King Charles III’s introduction to Major League Baseball was a 1970 Senators game

To celebrate last month’s coronation of King Charles III, the Nationals on Wednesday hosted their second annual “US-UK Friendship Day” in partnership with the British Embassy in Washington. With the British flag flying above Nationals Park’s left field plaza, the British national anthem played and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was introduced on the field before Washington’s 6-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. His Majesty evidently couldn’t be bothered to cross the pond to see Patrick Corbin pitch.

"It wouldn’t have been the first baseball game the king attended in D.C. On July 18, 1970, during his first visit to the United States, then 21-year-old Prince Charles and his 19-year-old sister, Princess Anne, took in the first several innings of the Washington Senators’ 4-0 win over the California Angels at RFK Stadium. They were joined by President Richard M. Nixon’s daughters, Julie and Tricia, and Julie’s husband, David Eisenhower, who worked as a statistician for the Senators and had arranged the visit."

“Arriving one minute late to the respectful cheers of 8,111, the VIP party baked in Washington’s relentless July sun for only an inning,” The Washington Post reported. “Then, apparently on the suggestion of Charles, they transferred to a roofed field box for the next four. They left after eight hits, next to no excitement, two unearned Senators’ runs, and the thermometer registered 91 degrees.”

"The Prince of Wales spent the morning with Eisenhower at the Patuxent Center for Wildlife Research and Propagation of Endangered Animal Species in Maryland. At the ballpark, it was clear he had a lot to learn about America’s national pastime." (READ MORE)

"In a Monday interview, Hart said he had known about the honor for a few weeks before the announcement after a call from the British consulate in Boston."

"Hart will head to the United Kingdom likely some time next year for his investiture ceremony, but said it is unclear which member of the royal family will formally “put the sword on my shoulder.” (READ MORE)

"King Charles III held round-table talks at London's Guildhall with key leaders on climate action as part of the lead-up to the Cop28 summit that opens in the UAE in November."

"During London Climate Action Week, King Charles presided over the inauguration of a countdown clock marking the deadline set in the 2015 Paris Agreement to limit global temperature rises to less than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels."

"The Climate Innovation Forum event with King Charles also included a private round-table with representatives of governments, businesses and academia before the ceremony, which was attended by 1,500 delegates in the medieval Great Hall."

"Scientists have said that achieving this is vital to ensuring a safe and liveable planet as even sticking to the 1.5°C limit offered only a 50-50 chance of avoiding catastrophic tipping points that would heat the Earth beyond human control."

"A dominating image of the countdown will also broadcast in London’s Piccadilly Circus for five days."

'Astra Carta': King Charles III launches framework for boosting sustainability in outer space
06/29/23
Space-Earth-580x358.jpg

"The Astra Carta framework was unveiled yesterday by King Charles III at a reception at Buckingham Palace."

"The SMI said the new Astra Carta, which offers a roadmap for how companies can work in partnership with governments, organisations and other stakeholders to align space-related activities with sustainability goals and standards, has been launched to "shape a future of responsible and sustainable space exploration, development and cooperation".

"The Astra Carta builds on the principles of the SMI's Terra Carta, a document launched in 2020 by King Charles III - then still Prince of Wales - which sets out principles for putting "nature, people and planet at the heart of global value creation".

"The new Astra Carta framework also recognises "the unique role that space can play in creating sustainable Earth and the need for space-related industries to consider environmental and sustainability impacts both on and beyond our planet".

"King Charles III first outlined his vision for space sustainability at the Space Sustainability Summit in 2022. The Astra Carta was created with input and inspiration from space and industry experts, including former Canadian astronaut and commander of the International Space Station Colonel Chris Hadfield."

Britain’s King Charles to receive second crown in Scotland

London CNN — "You may have thought all the major royal moments of the year were over… but hold your horses because one more is coming up. Scotland will celebrate the accession of King Charles III with its own festivities on Wednesday."

" The ceremonial events are part of Holyrood Week – also known as Royal Week – which takes place annually and customarily sees the monarch travel to various regions in the country celebrating Scottish culture, achievement and community.

"King Charles and Queen Camilla will be joined by Prince William and Kate, who go by their Scottish titles of the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when north of the border."

“Scotland will welcome the new King and Queen in July with a series of events to mark the Coronation. A People’s Procession, a Royal Procession, a National Service of Thanksgiving and a Gun Salute will take place in Edinburgh,” First Minister Humza Yousaf said in a statement ahead of the event on July 5."

"The Honours of Scotland are the oldest crown jewels in the UK.
They consist of the crown, sceptre and sword of state."

"Traditionally, new British monarchs are presented with them after their coronation and this will take place at the Service of Thanksgiving and Dedication to be held at St Giles next week."

"The Stone of Destiny will also be in St Giles' Cathedral for the service after playing a significant part in the Coronation at Westminster Abbey."

"A people's procession of about 100 community groups will collect The Honours from Edinburgh Castle and take them to the nearby cathedral. Then during the service, Dame Katherine Grainger DBE will bear the Elizabeth Sword, with the sceptre carried by Lady Dorrian, The Lord Justice Clerk, and the crown will be carried by The Duke of Hamilton."

"Dame Katherine said: "It will be an incredible honour to carry the Elizabeth Sword on such a historic day for Scotland. "I hope I can do the sword, and the occasion, justice. It promises to be a day of enormous celebration for the King and for the country and I feel immensely lucky to be able to play a part."
