I'm gonna try this next time
As long as you aren't pouring the boiling water down a sink disposal unit, that's great. Those disposal units have seals that will not take many direct exposures to boiling waterWhen my kitchen drain starts to get slow I bring two large pots of water to a boil. I squirt Dawn dish soap into the drain and add the first kettle of water, wait 5 minutes and then pour in the second kettle of water, let it sit for another 5 minutes then flush with water from the tap. The boiling water and the dish soap melts the grease build up and usually solves the problem without using chemicals.
