What works for me is, I purchased a new plunger and use it for my kitchen sink only and it works great!

Can't take my drain apart like that. It is cemented together. It's 2-inch drain pipe so it doesn't clog that often. Interesting video though.

When my kitchen drain starts to get slow I bring two large pots of water to a boil. I squirt Dawn dish soap into the drain and add the first kettle of water, wait 5 minutes and then pour in the second kettle of water, let it sit for another 5 minutes then flush with water from the tap. The boiling water and the dish soap melts the grease build up and usually solves the problem without using chemicals.

As long as you aren't pouring the boiling water down a sink disposal unit, that's great. Those disposal units have seals that will not take many direct exposures to boiling water

Problem is an older home with older plumbing snakes don't work as well because of all the bends like here. Now a days many codes restrict the number of bends and turns. I've found they work great with kitchen plumbing but not bathrooms.

Just remember you'll have to keep twisting and sort of feel for when the snake hits a dead end. Also in older homes with lead or copper drain pipe a mechanical snake can damage pipes because lead and drain grade copper are softer than water feed lines.
