Kitchen Utensils That Are Rarely Used Nowadays

What kitchen utensils do you have that your rarely use? Do you have a substitute item?

My rolling pin. It’s marble, sit on a top shelf and I can’t remember when I last used it. I buy a pre-made pie shell if I‘m baking a pie.

My blender - It’s a dual blender/grater/food processor unit and awkward to get out. Worse to wash.

Electric fry pan. I use the stove.

George Foreman type Grill It was one of those things that seemed like a good idea. I’d rather use a regular fry pan.

Cuisinart type Mixer, the big heavy one. Now I find a small hand blender so much easier.

I seldom use my cookie cutters, just at Christmas. And I did buy one of those pastry piping thingies, still in the box.

Jules, I love my George Foreman grill, I have the small one, perfect for a couple of paninis.

Definitely would be the rolling pin. I'm just saving that one to threaten the Spousal Equivalent with.....LOL.

I have a drawer that's hard to get to. It has all that sort of stuff in it: cake decorating kit, turkey baster, nut cracker, grapefruit spoons, etc. The blender is out in the garage (I have one of those little "bullet" ones that I use); the pressure cooker is out there, too.

A salad spinner. Need to dump it, but I've got so many cupboards in my big kitchen I don't need the space for something else. Who knows, maybe someone will stay with us and want to make a salad - they could say "do you have a salad spinner" and I could jump up and down and say "oh yes", here you are, right here it is, next to the apple corer/peeler.

That’s same cupboard I kept my salad spinner & apple corer in - above the fridge. It took me a few years to accept that I didn’t use either. Also got rid of the plastic cheese grater.

I had a salad spinner too which was an aggravating contraption taking up space. Now have a smaller Cuisinart salad spinner which works like a charm and takes up a lot less room. That one I use several times a week.

A crockpot. It's been up on a high shelf for years. But, I did bring it down a couple weeks ago to cook some short ribs for 8 hours. They were good.

A bread machine. Sounds great but the bread was so-so. Then I used it just to prepare the dough to bake in a normal pan. That was pretty good but I haven't used it for a while. I may drag it out and play with it again.

What I have that I never use:
Blender - (I use immersion blender now) It's sitting on a top shelf I can't reach.

Rolling Pin - I bought it in a thrift shop in 1963 for 10 cents. It's very heavy wood and well made. Maybe one day I'll use it.

Grapefruit spoons - Nutcrackers - electric knife - flour sifter - mandoline slicer (I think I got all my blood off it )- Multiple large cooking pots with covers.

Recently gave away:
Le Creuset French Oven - Can't lift it anymore!!
Food Processor
Air fryer
Ceramic Canisters
Large pots
Sets of glasses still in their boxes
Wine decanter/aerator
George Foreman grill

I am at the moment waiting for person from our local museums where I use to volunteer to pick up 2 crock pots...large ones I don't use.
Good to know they will be made use of..they did take up lot of space.
Also noticed now I have two soup ladles...gotta get going on my kitchen tool drawer too...

Got rid of the bread maker years ago, along with the salad spinner.

Never had a rolling pin or an electric skillet. I don't bake and have a stove, so never needed the electric skillet.

Gave away my seldom used crock pot... food all tastes the same in there are meats turn into dry fibers after you chew them and all the juice pours out into your mouth.

I liked the small Foreman grill for marinated chicken breasts to make chicken Caesar salads or grilled chick sandwich, but I had the old model. The old model did not have removable plates and was a bear to clean. I threw it out finally.

I did use a blender occasionally, but gave it away in favor of an immersion blender/small food processor combo. I don't use my large food processor now, so that may be going soon.

Since I really don't bake or create desserts, I never needed that big Kitchen Aid mixer. A hand whisk or my small, hand held mixer serves me on those few occasions.

I once had a hand-cranked pasta maker. It worked beautifully, but eventually I became too lazy to continue making my own pasta. It was cheap and easy to use. Out the door, long ago.

I've had, and still have, some of many different types of coffee makers, from espresso machine to AeroPress, including Moka Pot, French Press, Mr. Coffee, Keurig, percolators both stove top and electric, Chemex Pour-over, etc. (AeroPress was the best, but fussy to use, gave it away).

I have one of those cheap mandolins, called a V-Slicer. I have used it more than several times for home made potato gratin or scalloped potatoes. Worked pretty well. It's way back in a base cabinet, or at least I saw it there when cleaning over a year ago.

I did have a Ron Popiel product. It was the little ice cream maker, that stirred the ice-cream recipe while it was in your freezer by batteries. It was pretty good, but I don't remember what happened to it.

I gave a gift of an electric knife to a lady that often bought bulk cuts of lamb and cut it up into various sizes for her family recipes. She loved it.

Kitchen Utensils That Are Rarely Used Nowadays

My lady has 'em all....and duplicates

Whenever I'm looking for a spoon, I run across some of this stuff
Ask if she'd like to get rid of some of it

Not a good question

I'm there to make more cupboards and drawers

She has three rolling pins
One's for me, pretty sure

I have a countertop meat slicer, they can be great but I am scared to death of the thing. It was my husband's job when we used it.

I do have a stand mixer. I love that thing. Use it all the time. I bought it as a present for myself a couple of years ago. Funny thing is that now I live alone, but I love making bread, cookies, cakes. I even use it to mix up a meatloaf.

Rolling pin (used to only make tea biscuits) and grapefruit spoons (I just cut grapefruit in half and use a sharp knife to cut out the triangles and the just eat with a spoon).
Other items:
Small electric grill
Deep fryer
Juicer
Slow cooker
I am sure there are more....

never use my meat thermometer
That reminds me, I have the little instant read one, which I do use especially for chicken, but also have the big Momma type you put into a side of beef before roasting, LOL. That needs to go.

And I'm also reminded of a large candy thermometer I bought to delight a child with homemade sponge candy and never used again. That will be going, too.

My wife has a rolling pin that was a present from one of the kids. It is made from rock and polished and looks nice. It is very heavy, so it is not used very much.
