LA Coroner Resigns. 180 Body Backlog.

Getting forensic testing done is a big issue all over the country. Some of it has to do with not enough labs, money and/or technicians. DNA testing is now done fairly quickly, but getting toxicology reports back is still very slow. One thing that we have done to help speed up the process is to set up our own lab that can do some of the testing. The FBI lab is getting slower due to increased demands from the smaller police departments.

I would imagine that other big cities, such as Chicago, New York, Miami, etc. also have a similar issue as LA.

It wasn't the number of bodies they handle per year but the 20,000 investigations a year that I found to be the astounding number.
