Lab grown Salmon anyone ?

More expensive that real salmon??? Nothing is more expensive than salmon. Well... lobster, and truffles. OK, I take that back. Somethings are, but they're not on my grocery list. The quality of salmon, where taste is the unit of measure diminishes greatly by the time it makes it to the grocery store. I prefer it when I hoist it out of the water using a hot greased fry pan instead of a net. I'm not trying to be an elitist. I'm just aware of fresh caught. But I'm guessing the baseline for lab salmon is how it measures up to grocery store salmon, so will have a new standard.

I actually eat a lot of store salmon. I eat it for the protein and nutritional value, and every time I eat it, I have a bittersweet memory of the salmon I cooked right on the boat I caught it from.

It's not fake... it is actually cultured from salmon cells.
No, the article Holly excerpted in the OP says it's fungus based. I certainly wouldn't call that "lab grown". It basically sounds similar to Quorn which I first ate in England in the '90s.

This is a "highly processed food"; something I generally try to avoid. If I'm going to eat salmon it is wild caught from the Pacific. (I personally don't care for Atlanic salmon.)

Well Tommy, the title of the post is “Lab-grown salmon” and that is what I was addressing.
It is actually called “THE FILET – Inspired by Salmon” according to the manufacturers and is indeed lab-grown from a fungus called mycoprotein.

I found an article that the lab grown meat won't really be any better because it will expose us to a bunch of other things. I really don't think we're going to be safe regardless of what they do with it.
