Ladies high heal shoes! Did wearing them ruin your feet and in what ways?

Our younger years, or even our older years perhaps, did your choice to wear high
heal shoes, cause you foot issues later in life or even now?
I didn't wear high heels that often when I was younger.
I knew better.
Haven't worn them for many years. But still, I hurt my lower back to some degree, somehow.

I wore high heels for years and Platform shoes and boots with 3 or 4 inch heels for about 30 years or more .... never affected my feet.. in fact it was only after I;d been wearing relatively flat shoes for some years that I got Plantar Fasciitis... but I never suffered from any foot pain when wearing heels..

All that said.. I still wear high heels to this day.. but only 'car to bar'' situations.. in other words, only when I don't have to walk too far... before I get to sit down. I can still drive in them... but after wearing low heel shoes and trainers for about 10 years now, it's not my feet that hurt with the heeled footwear but my back...

No foot problems but they do cause low back and hip pain now. Now it is more about balance, I always feel like I am going to fall over. LOL I would still wear them if I could there are so many pretty styles out there. @hollydolly posted a picture of her new boots the other day. I might be able to wear something like those, not to high and a nice chunky heel. I would like some like that to wear with jeans. We shall see!!

those boots have a 3 inch heel.... 😊

In my years gone by, I 'loved' wearing heels, specifically red and black. Enjoyed
everything about them, the feel, the look, the everything, BUT those days are
long gone since I turned about 55. Oh, gawd no more she says LOL I now
am 70 by the way. If I wore them now to walk, I would likely end up with
broken hip, nah don't want or need that. Still though if I could get by with
wearing them occasionally for going out to dinner or an event occasion in
which I did not have to walk, well then, I am all in. It's the having to walk
in them. Yeah, THAT ;)

Yes, they did cause issues, but not my feet, my lower legs and then knees.

I found high heels to be uncomfortable. I prefer pumps.
Lol, another wise guy! 😂You boys!

For anyone who might be curious. High Heels vs Pumps: Differences and Similarities > https://threadcurve.com/high-heels-vs-pumps/

"One of the earliest wearers of high-heeled shoes was not a woman known for her fashion sense. It was King Louis XIV of France, who stood at 5 foot 3 inches in height. He had shoes with heels specially made so he could appear taller. The shoes quickly caught on. Once the King of France popularized the look, everyone wanted it. Later in history, women’s heels became a fashionable footwear look.

Catherine de Medici, who would become Queen of France after her 1533 marriage, wore high heeled shoes that were made by Italian designers. Her women’s shoe style quickly caught on in the French court and she set the women’s footwear trends that would shape fashion history.''

Bella✌️

I wore heels daily for decades, and made sure they fit well and were comfortable. Actually, I have a high arch and instep. I was more familiar walking in heels than the flat shoes others wore.

Since I've retired, I seldom have a place to wear heels, other than dinner out, or special occasions. Next weekend I have a political event to attend, and look forward to dressing up in heels again. Gotta say, they make the legs more attractive, and add height to us shorter gals.

During working almost 20 years in a jewellery store…..laid out my wardrobe…..high heals…..flat shoes then…..never.
Only wore them at work……kicked them after work……as years went bye, they were getting harder to wear because of discomfort.
But being young, continued, the high heels and gathering wardrobe to go along with it to wear.
Do I have issues with my feet now, some what so, yes…….some back and joint issues.
What a life to have been young and foolish……was told , you’ll do damage……they were right.

I was required to wear high heels when I worked in a bar at age 22. A coworker recommended open toes and sling backs (basically a high-heeled sandal). They were fine. I sometimes wore similar, sandal-type heels until my 50s. No problem, as long as the heels weren't super high.

But high-heeled pumps? I'd buy a pair, and then couldn't walk more than a few steps in them. Ow ow. For me, closed shoes are the problem.
