Yesterday I was having response issues with my web access. Mouse was hesitant & hardly moving. Finally realized my laptop was beginning to look like a patient on life support. So many wires hanging of each side, something had to give. I started blaming my wife/modem/mouse batteries anything & everything I could. Swallowing my pride I started by removing the extra storage devices along with the cables.
Deleting unused apps & adhered to the KISS method. I have a very limited need for all the unnecessary tracking & security that I've installed over time. I don't need to worry about hacking & even if I did who really cares? I don't, I watch all my accounts daily & decided I'm too paranoid. So after cleaning up my area & following the 10 rules of computing I can now rest easy. At my age, come and get me!
My rules: No special order.
1. Save & save often.
2. Make copies for backup.
3. Do updates.
4. Keep everything organized.
5. K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple stupid).
6. Be respectable of others.
7. Clear history & trash.
8. No food - drinks.
9. Keep area clean.
10. LOGOFF!
I moved on to my closet area and cleaned that up. All in all things seem to be running much more smoothly. Maybe my ISP provider is to blame.
NOTED: I normally use Manjaro Cinnamon but still as a precaution keep both Mint Cinnamon & a copy of Debian Mint on my Ventoy USB stick as backups. Totally sold on Linux, been an advocate & user since the late 1990's. Started with SUSE & the fore runner to 'Gnoppix' - 'Knoppix'.
