I sometimes put a couple of drops of lavender oil on a cotton ball or tissue and slip it into my pillow case for the night, it lasts for days without refreshing, but I have to be careful not to make it too strong, the aroma should be mild. Ideally it's used in a room with a special diffuser, but I haven't bought one of those yet, I may someday.

Lavender is know to relax, I've put a couple of drops in my bubble bath sometimes to feel the calm, also helps with sleep and stress. Here's more information on lavender oil and it's benefits. http://www.greenmedinfo.com/blog/natures-alternative-anxiety-and-sleep-drugs-flower

Lavender is not only beautiful but one of the most medically useful essential oils. Recent research is proving its power and versatility to provide effective and safe alternatives to pharmaceuticals for common physical and psychological challenges.

Lavender: Relaxed & Alert

A remarkable feature of lavender is that it can simultaneously relax you and wake you up. A review of studies on lavender concluded that scenting a room with lavender essential oil can improve feelings of well being, sleep and alertness while decreasing aggression and anxiety (Psychother Res 2002).

This incredible ability of lavender to promote relaxation and alertness simultaneously has been noticed before. In a 1998 study, people given lavender had increased drowsiness, less depression and were more relaxed, but also performed math calculations quicker and more accurately (Int J Neurosci). Another study found that lavender oil made people feel both more active and fresher and more relaxed compared to a placebo oil. The lavender also significantly lowered their blood pressure, heart rate and skin temperature (J Med Assoc Thai 2012;95(4):598-606).

We have not tried this yet, but have found "Life-flo Pure Magnesium Oil, 8 Ounce Spray" on line at amazon. It is applied to the bottom of the feet at bedtime. It also comes with lavender.

I love lavender and I believe it does relax- bees even get a little "drunk" around the flowers. I always forget to pick up the oil, but I have a lavender plant growing in front so I'm going out right now to cut some and put in my pillow case!

Thanks.

do your feet itch?

I use Magnesium Oil and I know that magnesium in general is relaxing, the oil is excellent for cramps, but I never used one that contained lavender, maybe I can mix some up myself. This is the oil I find is best. http://www.globallight.net/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=245

Speaking for myself Rose, I've use the mag oil on the soles of my feet when I had serious plantar fasciitis problems, and it itched in many other places when I used it, but not on my feet.

The oil to me doesn't smell as delightful as the flower itself, but with many herbals and oils, the aromas may vary.
