Leaving Wisdom

I think most of us has gain a degree of wisdom. Some through trial and error, pain, responsible, and some through love. For your great great grandchild what wisdoms would you like to pass on to them?

Ina, I am still working somewhat on this. I know that I continue to be a work in progress. I had a very different childhood growing up. I want go into details, but only say I grew-up in a situation that allowed me to be headstrong in the 50s and 60s during racial strife where my parents were very humane and worked to give blacks an equal opportunity. How did that make me headstrong, you ask? Well without going into it too much, my father was a civil rights leader, who hired the first black man to be a deputy (my dad was sheriff in a county that had a black college and educators that could not vote). The governor removed all state radios for his police cars bc of that. I spoke my mind growing up. Let me say, there were other teenagers that were of equal mind, as well, so I was not alone. I enjoy hearing so much for you.

Charlotte, I agree that equality is a piece of wisdom that should be passed down to all children. What a wonderful father he must have been/is. My father was as bigoted as they come, but even as a small child I knew he was wrong, so I grew up believing that equality had to come for all.

My niece is getting married in November, and has asked for a recipe or piece of wisdom for a wedding present.
i will pass on my grandmother's recipe for Christmas pudding, Christmas cake and mincemeat.

No grandchildren here, but I would just advise to treat others the way you would like to be treated in life, you get what you give.

Great question! I would want them to know that true happiness comes from giving to others.

I would love Ina to be able to reply to this...but very very sadly we lost our dear friend, recently.

We miss her, and perhaps today on Easter Sunday we can remember Ina and everyone here who've gone to meet their God in the last year. Ina certainly believed there was a God, so I hope she was right and she's with him now!!

There is not a day that goes by where iI do not think of Ina, and wish that I could share something with her that I saw, or that happened that day, or just to hear her voice on the phone.
I also believe that dear Ina is with her Heavenly Father, and he is now answering all of her questions.

I didn't know Ina. What a gift this forum is. Although Ina's gone, she continues to live with her remarks. They caused me to think deeply for a while about what I truly value and wish to bequeath to my great-great-grandchildren.
