Lee Van Cleef, 1952, in Sky King

Oh boy, as a kid I used to watch Sky King every Saturday morning. I didn't know about Van Cleef's first TV role, but he'd been a regular in many '40s movies-- most of them films noir. What a face!

in 1952, he also appeared in High Noon, along with Gary Cooper and Robert Wilke (one of the best movie villain actors, of all time). In 1953, he had a bit role in The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms.

Was "Sky King" on every Saturday morning, where this cattle rancher had a twin engine Cessna, named "the Song Bird", and who had a niece Penny and a nephew Clipper?????? Yup, I might have watched it.
Yeah, it was. I don't recall the plane being named but I'm sure it was a V-tailed Beechcraft Bonanza when I watched the show.

But perhaps I remember that incorrectly.

I remember the plane was called " Song Bird" . I don't know one plane from another. Wiki said the planes were a Cessna T-50 and later a Cessna 310B. And looking that up, the ranch was named the "Flying Crown Ranch." I was 6 years old, and I can remember details from that show, but now, I can't tell you if I just took my meds.:(

I thought that it was totally cool that a guy could get to ride a horse, and pilot a plane!

Lee Van Cleef’s later parings with Clint Eastwood were legendary…
