Legendary golfer Chi Chi Rodriguez died yesterday

I was very sad to hear the news. Chi Chi was not only a great golf pro, but he was a character, and had a sense of humor which is sadly lacking in today's pro ranks. He was also an avid humanitarian, especially toward disadvantaged children.

There's also a brief nice video about him.

I started watching golf on TV as a kid in the '50s and '60s even though I didn't play the game. Arnie and Jack were always big draws; but for me I couldn't wait to see Chi Chi because of his antics and the way he carried himself.

Oh wow. I am very sad to hear about this. The first set of golf clubs my dad gave me was a Chi Chi Rodriguez starter set so he became a favorite of mine. Way back before The Phoenix Open became such a circus I used to follow him when he played in the tournament. It was back when you could actually be up close to the golfer. He was always fun to follow. And he did have his signature move when he made a difficult putt. He was always great with the gallery and seemed to always be having fun no matter if he was in contention or not.

What a memory. I wish I could've seen him live.
He had such a great sense of humor. When the long hitter, John Daly, first got to be known, Chi Chi quipped, "John Daly hits the ball so long, when I was a kid we never took a vacation that far."..😄

I remember watching him on TV while he played tournaments. He always looked like he was having a lot of fun playing, no matter where he was in the standings. He was quite a character ;)
R.I.P. Chi Chi. You lived a good life!

I saw a brief news clip of Mr. Rodriguez and thought he was "dap" and had swagger. Did you know he used to play baseball too and was a team mate of Roberto Clemente? @Rakaia
Nice clip. I never knew that Chi Chi and Clemente were old friends. I grew up in Pittsburgh watching Clemente play for the Pirates from the 1950s to his death in '72. He was one of those legendary players who everyone wanted to see.
