'Lens' for Cataract Surgery, ..... How many more years last?

Hello:
Over 20 years ago, I did Cataract Surgery on my left eye with a very reputable Cataract Surgeon at the large University Hospital. I was one of youngest patients as for needing that surgery. After Surgery, my vision has drastically improved to the point I do not need my reading eye-glasses. I paid around $2,800 per eye because University Hospital does not accept my private insurance, BCBS which is one of best in this region. Now, probably more than $4,000 per eye due to a change of the cost of living

Recalling, however the 'Lens' for Cataract Surgery does not last permanently and needs another Surgery to replace the current Lens.

As of today, in my 70's I can see well, however there is some degree of 'foggy' feeling in my left eye on which I'm afraid 'Lens' going as functional as it's supposed to be, but I might be over-reacted after reading some stuff long ago. Also, I'm very concerned about another surgery for 'Lens,' because I'm not as healthy as when I did years back.

My question is, .... How long does 'Lens' placed due to Cataract Surgery last?

Thanks for any responses on this regard.

Well, I had laser cataract surgery in both eyes in Oct of last year/2018, and, at my age right now, 69, I'm hoping the lenses will last the rest of my life. My surgery and a "specified" lens cost us $1,900 for each eye.

I do need/use reading glasses for looking at my iPhone or other small print, but that's it. No more prescription glasses for me. So, the $1,900 per eye was well worth it to wife and I.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes, 3 mos apart in 2004, 15 yrs ago, with whatever procedure they were using then by a Dr who had the rep of being the best in the state. I wore reading glasses before and wear trifocals for reading etc now; not needed to drive or tv or outdoors. I had an eye exam by ophthalmologist Jan 2019, everything still fine. I never heard that there was a "shelf life" on implanted lenses. If you are an American with Medicare, please make an apt with an ophthalmologist (MD, not optometrist) and see what the problem might be.

Had both eyes done years ago and never heard of there being a shelf life. Still wear the same eye script. Will ask doc the next time I go about the shelf life if there is one. He did the surgeries many years ago and has never mentioned it.

Thanks ALL for responses. I'm truly relieved to know that there is NO shelf-life for an implanted lense.

There might be some misunderstanding regarding an implanted lense at the time when I got Cataract Surgery in my early '50s. I had it done by one of reputable Cataract Surgeons in this region/East Coast and he did not mention anything about its shelf-life. Only I learned is when I read one of newspapers' article long ago.

As to 'a bit fogginess' on my left eye, it might be related to one of meds. I've been taking for years. It rarely occurs, then I do not concern about it until now when I have some Arthritis issues on my spine and hand which requires more meds to alleviate pain I have. Luckily, the pain is almost gone thanks to an amazing specialist with med. combo.

I love sewing and craft-works, then a good eye-sight is very important to me.

When I visit an ophthalmologist the next time, I plan to ask about its shelf-life because I underwent almost 20 years ago when technology was not quite advanced to perform any medical procedure.
