The hot weather was rough on my eyes with the cooling breezes from fans or air conditioners irritating my eyes.
When they itched I would rub them and they got more irritated and sore even with using two different kinds of eye drops.
The salty ones for my eye condition and then the ones that help relieve the itch and burning of allergies.
They continued to get worse until I remembered that a hot wet wash cloth helped along with the drops.
They were getting better, first the left one and then the right one as long as I used tissue paper lightly when they itched instead of my hands.
They were almost back to normal when today came along the first day the DMV opened after the weekend and the first cooler day in two weeks.
I walked in and took a number and sat down. I was 43 and the guy next to me was 16 and they were on 7.
Took me an hour and a half before I was up and I was so nervous I walked stiff legged up to the counter.
We filled out the paper work and she told me to go down to the end where they do the vision tests.
I stuck my face against the viewfinder and read line five.
OVFD RSEP NO WAIT it’s CVFD RSEP
She said okay read the rest of them.
I said “ there’s more of them.”
I moved my face back and forth on the viewfinder and found the last four letters and read them.
OK now tell me which side has the blinking light. I said both of them. She said Okay.
Then I did the driving part and I have a new license on the way and it’s still three weeks before my birthday when the current one expires.
