Liking the new coin designs

Nature designs to reflect King Charles' taste. What a wonderful idea, I cannot wait to get them.
I do hate the current notes though, you cannot gold the £10 and £20 notes and they irritate me. So I wish they could be replaced.

These?

King Charles III new coins designed to help children to count

Large numbers on an entirely redesigned set of UK coins will help children to identify figures and learn to count, The Royal Mint has said.

The coins will enter circulation by the end of the year, marking the new reign of King Charles III and celebrating his love of the natural world.

The tails side of every coin from the 1p to the £2 will feature the country's flora and fauna.

Old coins can still be used, with the new set struck in response to demand.

Rebecca Morgan, director at the Mint, told the BBC: "The large numbers will be very appealing to children who are learning to count and about the use of money.

"Also the animals and everything you see on these coins will appeal to children. They are great conversation starters."

Interesting! I love the idea! But do children really get a chance to use coins? They don't work, and not everyone's parents are doting enough to give their children coins, lol.

I like the Polymer notes... not new now.. they've been with us 6 years...

The new coins won't be used or even as popular as coins in the past with the Queen's head or George V simply because so much fewer people use cash nowadays, so given that these coins will be in circulation for a much shorter period than the previous..it seems like massive cost to the public purse...

Here in the states most people still use cash. I know some will disagree, but if you observe, you will see a majority still use cash. Also checks.

It's estimated that as of 2022, two-fifths of Americans are cashless. The trend is most definitely toward a cashless society.

I know some people are against a cashless society, and many conspiracy theories proliferate. I mostly think this is people simply not liking change (sic). The cashless society is an inevitable outcome of the modern world, imo.

I'm not totally cash free, but I can't remember the last time I used any.
