Links and polls and long missives, etc.

I'm curious how others feel about this subject.

Many posters like to post links to subjects, or polls. Some posters also like to copy and paste things they've pulled off the internet, or write out a dozen paragraphs explaining something.

I skip it all. I never click on links, I never take polls or online quizzes, I never read cut and pasted threads or long winded postings.

It's not that I'm afraid of a virus or click bait I simply have found all the redirection boring so just quit doing it. I know others can spend hours going down one rabbit hole after another, but that just ain't me.

How about you? What's your approach?

All of this seemingly innocent surveys and questions most folks find harmless, I don't bite. I feel people want to be included, so add their likes and dislikes. "What do you like on your toast in the morning?" is an information gathering tactic for the internet world, and really Who Cares? Pointless questions, filling time, does not attract me at all.

Don’t like poll or quizzes unless there’s a worthy prize. Sometimes KISS is the best approach. Other times I feel some verbiage is necessary if its an area I know something about. Spending hours on it is pointless because no matter how much is presented people are always going to have different opinions.

I start with the subject matter, and if I find it interesting I might bite, but usually I'm in and out on the computer fairly quickly and I might not want to take the extra time.

I love information and rabbit holes, but that's not what I'm here for. If I want to know about something I'll look it up myself.

The personal questions seem pointless at first, but I guess they're conversation starters. Sometimes they lead to interesting discussions.

For me it depends on the subject. Sometimes it depends on who posted it. There are certain members who I read everything they post especially if it is a subject I am interested in. I do take part in polls on this forum but not other social media sites. I just do the polls here for fun or curiosity.

Well, I don't care to click on something that someone else wrote on the internet.
Have they no faith in their own opinion; that they must search the internet
for a back-up of their feelings? Why can't people think for themselves and
have the courage to express their own views and judgements?
Do they think if they show that another human has the same opinion,
that suddenly I'm going to jump up and say, "Wow! Someone wrote this!
So I guess it must be the truth!"
I would give much more worth and respect for one who thinks for himself.

I don't click on links, I much prefer to know what the poster themselves thinks rather than links or hearsay or endless citations.

I'm another one who doesn't click on links. I also prefer the written word, not videos, but I don't bother to read long posts.

I find it hard to watch videos not chosen by me so I generally don't. I like a synopsis, at the very least!
