Living alone, do you hear that noise @ 3 AM?

If you live alone, do you always hear that damn noise again @ 3AM? I hear it only early, early in the morning. But getting up to go- there it is.
What is it?
And why do you hear noises only real late at night?

I sleep with my air cleaner running which has a fan that I can set on whatever speed I want so I don’t hear anything.

I certainly heard it last night around 3am..damn foxes battling with something in my garden... if my back hadn't been hurting so much I would have got out of bed and opened the window to chase them off..

I think the 3am noises are just the house creaking back into place as heat cools down etc..

Yes dang it!!! I heard knocking again last nite at 3am, of course
nobody is around, i wish that would stop so I could get better
sleep !!!!

My wife hears men's voice over by the highboy dresser. I suspect that the soft whispering sound of the Hepa air filter is playing tricks on her mind.
