Looking for advice in buying a Toaster Oven/ Air Fryer combo

Our old toaster oven is toast and our vintage gas oven is out of service. We hear these combo appliances are wonderful but I’m wondering what your experience has been and am looking for make/model recommendations. I see Target carries two Cuisinart models, one for about $150 and the other for about $180. Any advice welcome.

I just bought this a few weeks ago and love it. It is a microwave, air fryer, convection oven, broiler combo. Love having everything in just one appliance. Amazon.com: TOSHIBA ML2-EC10SA(BS) 8-in-1 Countertop Microwave with Air Fryer Microwave Combo, Convection, Broil, Odor removal, Mute Function, 12.4" Position Memory Turntable with 1.0 Cu.ft, Black stainless steel: Home & Kitchen

What's the difference between an air fryer and a counter top convection oven if both are the same size?
The Breville we have is a toaster oven with a convection feature built in. Basically as I understand the way ours works is if I set it for oven baking for example 400 degrees c air will circulate while baking. Broiling is one of the features in our toaster oven.

For our air fryer there is a large coil that heats the fryer while air circulates. The intensity of the heat is directed to the pot the food to be fried in .

Sounds like they both do the same but they don't. I don't think baking is possible in our Breville<--- never tried that. And for sure broiling isn't possible.

When my air fryer needs replacing, I will probably buy the Ninja Health Grill and Air Fryer. I know several people who have Ninja air fryers and love them. On the UK site, they are reduced atm; I think Ninja probably has a US site and Amazon likely stock them too. This link takes you to the lowest price model but there are two more which are a little more expensive but have more functions.

My Breville is the same as yours, except no convection. I’ve baked muffins in my Breville and also have used the Broil feature many times.

My Cuisinart had convection and I didn’t use it. Nor did I use it in my microwave.

I'm watching this thread with interest because I'd love to have one if I ever move and have the counter space. Here, no way.

Question: Do they throw off a lot of heat? I'm wondering about using in the summer.

You should definitely have open counter space. Like any free standing oven heat radiation is going to happen. We happen to have a free standing wooden cabinet that is on wheels. The top is perfect for using it on that. We use ours year round since heat radiation isn't excessive.
