I don't know what wiped out Roanoke. But, from what remained it could have been an attack by hostiles. Just my guess.

How long were the 'others' gone ? When they returned to find the colony missing ?

Seems too me that it would take a really long time to just blend in with the natives. Inbreed and not be recognizable ? And/or forget their relatives ?

PBS did a series on the Roanoke mystery and it had something to do with the discovery of silver and the greed of those who found it leading to doom. Did anyone see this? I never saw all of the series, sadly. It's an interesting story though. Thx for including it.
