Yesterday I received a happy holiday call from my ex and it brought to mind an older thread.
Awhile back there was a thread asking about how you felt about your ex spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, lover etc. and I stated that my ex (of over 40 years) and I forgave each other many, many years ago for the reasons of our divorcing and even though we haven't seen each other since around 1991, live in different states and have both been remarried for many years and love our current spouses very much, we still feel strongly for each other and keep in touch occasionally.....we have a son together who has given us three grandchildren and who also lives in another state.
I know from personal experience that the old saying that you never forget or stop caring for your very first true love is correct, or it is in our case.
I truly feel unworthy but ever since her call yesterday I have been thinking about that if I should die tomorrow how very fortunate I have been in my life to have been loved and still loved by two extremely wonderful women.
