Loving wood heat

I have a mock wood -burner. The fire effect is very realistic and it gives off a good heat.....not the same as a real one but makes a good focal point in the room.

We have an older (1880’s) house built by the British. It has a beautiful old coal fireplace that we now burn wood in. It’s more decorative than anything though as it doesn’t really produce much heat, in fact because it has no damper out probably evens out between the cold air coming in and warm air it produces. But it sure is beautiful to sit and watch.

I heated and cooked with wood for over 20 years until I moved here. Yes, it was a comforting sort of heat and I loved cooking on my wood cook stove. I could not stand how hot it would get at times, even banked back. The smoke and dust I think did affect me. Once I moved here to my all electric apartment, I could breathe better and it is more comfortable. I wouldn't go back to it.
