Wow, I had no idea that she was as old as I. My son was a real Trekkie and made on out of me.

A quick story. When I was in my late 20's, I was asked to escort a Star Trek charter aboard a cruise ship owned by the company I worked for. Nichelle Nichols was in attendance, and she sang during a show. She was wonderful. I had to the opportunity to escort George Takei and his mother to their cabin. They were both delightful. I also had the opportunity to dine with Majel Roddenberry and ask her all about her husband's inspiration for Star Trek. It was fascinating. I'm so glad I had that opportunity.

On a less positive note, I saw a recent show featuring a financial feud between Nichelle Nichols' "manager" and her son, Kyle. Both parties actually seemed very sketchy and as if they were only interested in her money. There was a recorded scene where her son was literally forcing her out of the cottage where her manager was staying and she was screaming at him to let her stay. It was very sad that someone so beautiful and talented lived her final years in this situation. RIP Nichelle.

Star Trek did so many ground-breaking episodes that challenged social norms. As the character Lt. Uhura, Nichelle Nichols will have well-deserved immortality. Sadly, hearing of disputes over her money makes me less inclined to watch reruns that will only benefit others.

The worst violators are family.
I've seen this every time someone I knew died. Quoting from your link:

As Thomas Aquinas said, "Greed is a sin directly against one's neighbor, since one (hu)man cannot over-abound in external riches, without another (hu)man lacking them."

I really hope that Nichelle Nichols had fair, far-sighted contracts and an iron-clad will. As for those who look forward to profiting by her death, .... (self-censored thoughts.)
