Anybody have it? I just took my mother to the Dr. today..she has wet degeneration in her right eye. She is seeing a heart shaped object with colors..she called it a sapphire and purple inside. She has to go to a specialist tomorrow, They said that they will do an injection in the eye to keep it from progressing. Any input will be appreciated.

yea.. that's what they said.. it could do good or not. My mother is 85 her sister is 92 and is legally blind as well.

My husband has this and he only has one eye.
The good news is if treated properly most of them don’t get any worse. He was told to take vitalux advanced supplements and goja berries everyday. It’s been almost two years and it has not got any worse.
My father also was diagnosed about 12 years ago and his didn’t get any worse either so the prognosis isn’t as bad as it may seem. It’s very treatable so try not to worry too much.

My old Dad had MD in his later years, and it really hampered his activities...driving, etc. I queried my eye doctor, years ago, and he said that a taking a daily Lutein pill and a fish oil capsule is probably the best preventative measure. I've been taking these supplements for over 10 years, and my annual eye exams have been good, so far....knock wood. Another thing these supplements seem to help is "floaters"....little dark spots that seem to drift slowly through a person's field of vision. A daily "Preservision" pill, and a generic fish oil capsule is cheap insurance to help maintain good vision.

Thanks...I guess I just need to know that it is treatable. Got to look into the goja berries. My daddy lost one eye to cancer and did very well for years with his glass eye.

I sometimes get those floaters too. Your choice of supplements is spot on.

Yes it definitely VERY treatable.
My guy has had a glass eye for about 24 years now.
He had two eyes when I met him.
Teach him to mess with me:grin:

Totally kidding . Lol

The wet form is more advanced, more serious than dry. DH has one eye with almost no vision left, one is okay with good enough glasses. He had dry, then eventually progressed to wet in one eye. Besides glasses, he has various lighted magnifying devices to help. VA stopped the treatments years ago.
