Mailbox (postal)...how often?

How often do you deposit mail into a (blue) US postal mailbox or into a slot at post office lobby?

For me, maybe once or twice a month. Online payments certainly changed things.

Another question....do people still mail graduation and wedding invitations?

I have probably used postal more in the past several weeks than in years. But just due to my personal circumstances.
As for party invites I do not remember last one I got in the mail. Last year I was invited to a grad party set up as an event on Facebook. Year before I got a birthday party invites the same way.

I go to the post office around once a week, I mail my bill payments inside the building, other things I just drive up to the blue box. I have a mailbox in front of my house, but I just use that for incoming.

When I was a child we lived (for a few years) on the outskirts of town. I remember it was so exciting to see that red flag up on mailboxes, then watch to see if the mailman took whatever was being mailed out.

I had to stop and think how much is a first class stamp. 55 cents
I keep a few 'forever' stamps just in case I need them.

Back in the day when we had one regular mailman I used to use the red flag and send out all my mail that way. These days there's a lot of different people delivering the mail, and no longer at a usual time of day. It can be before noon, afternoon, and a couple of times I've seen a mailman with a headlamp on delivering mail after it became dark outside. I just don't trust them like I used to.

Very rarely,I posted a birthday card to a friend yesterday, only because I can’t see her on her birthday

I'm curious about American letter boxes. I've seen on tv programmes that every house has a box outside and it doesn't seem to be locked. Surely the mail gets stolen? Here in Britain, every door has a slot through which the mail is posted, so your letters are deposited safely INSIDE your house.
To answer the question, I posted a load of cards at Christmas, haven't used the post box since.

Not very often since I started automatic payments and online statements for monthly bills.

I get a piece of junk mail every three or four days and I mail a greeting card about once a month.

It won't be long before the postman is a thing of the past!

Our mail service, "The Royal Mail" was sold a few years ago
to the German "Bundesposte" I think, but I don't know who
owns it now.

They keep putting the price up and the last time I sent out
Christmas cards, the post cost more than the card in the
envelop.

So I don't use it very much at all.

Mike.

Where I live now (apartment complex), we have a large open mailroom with cluster boxes for all the tenants. It's a community social area where people visit everyday, with several patio tables and chairs around the area. It's breezy and open, nice on hot days.
I walk down there daily in the evening. .. dog walking time and pick up mail all in one trip. It's a good routine.

As for mailing things out, maybe one or two cards in the past year. Had a graduation in the family this year and that was delivered via text. :D

The U.S. Postal service has removed several mailboxes over the past several years. Due to the decrease in mail being sent, the Postal Service has decided to conduct audits that if the box is not receiving at least ‘x’ amount of pieces of mail on a daily basis, they have or will remove the typical street corner mailbox.

We have also been alerted by the Postal Service that due to the chance of terrorism, some mailboxes have been ordered to be removed by order of Homeland Security. These boxes are listed on a confidential list only known to those that are in the need to know.

At the post office lobby, yes.
About once a month

The big blue box? Never
No longer trust them…actually, never did.
Anybody can put anything (that’ll fit) in there

As far as special events, I think it’s still pretty cool to use snail mail.
It creates that date on the envelope for a keepsake

Oh, and it helps build a fire of a cold morning…..

We probably only send a half dozen pieced of mail per month....utility bill, credit card bill, etc. Our mailman picks up mail if we lift the "flag" on our mailbox, but I usually go to town a couple of times per week, so I just stop at the post office for a few seconds, and put any outgoing mail directly into their indoor mail chute.

I rarely use the US Mail for out going mail. Probably once in a year. Almost everything is done online. The only things I get with US Mail is ads, more ads, and more ads, and governmental- local/state taxes, etc.

Our mail is delivered to a cluster box that has a slot for outgoing mail. I have outgoing about 2 or 3 times a month. We use auto pay for a lot of bills.

I still pay my bills by mail. I have a mailbox but don't trust leaving bill payments in there, so I go to the post office once or twice a month.
