I think I have mentioned before that my husband is enjoying watching cooking videos on YouTube. He has found some interesting ones, especially since we both want and need to eat healthier in our "golden years"

Anyhow, he came across several videos making Seitan from scratch. Many vegans use it as a "meat alternative". They make "chicken", steaks and BBQ.

So, right now, in my oven, is my own attempt at BBQ "ribs". The creation does not really look like the cook's version. And I did have to go online to do the cooking temp conversion from celcius to fareignheit' And I know I spelled both words wrong.

I will post later about how it turned out. Here is the video from which I got the recipe. I cheated and used pre-made BBQ sauce, and beef broth rather than vegie broth.

End result was interesting. It did not turn out exactly as pictured, but being my first attempt it was interesting. The taste was OK, may just need to tweak the seasoning some. The texture in your mouth is much like eating meat..mot exact, but similar. Think eating a piece of game meat, which is lean with little to no fat to it, but still a nice flavor.

I think the stuff is pretty good
wife puts it in a brewer's yeast concoction before frying

actually it's real good

just don't give it my favorite meat names, like 'brisket', or 'ribs'
