This is one of the dumbest things I heard lately! That fool put his real name on the suitcase. I've heard that "Crime makes ya stupid" but really I think it's the other way around. They have to be pretty stupid to think they'll get away with the crimes they come up with, especially in light of today's tech stuff..camera's everywhere, easy access to location information and facial recognition capabilities.
 
It doesn't make any sense to carry fireworks explosives with wires and batteries tied to assorted electrical parts in a hidden compartment onto a plane. He could have been testing the system to find out if he could get away with something bigger. Or he could just be nuts. I wouldn't advise screwing with Federal Agents. They don't have the necessary sense of humor to laugh that kind of thing off. Even if his lawyer was correct about setting the fireworks off on a beach, this guy needs serious help and possibly confinement. I personally would never let this guy on another plane, into a night club, or a sports arena if it were up to me. I'd be curious to know what happens to him, but this is the kind of story that doesn't always have that kind of follow up.
 
"A live explosive device." Well, I guess if you're packing some ordnance, you may as well make it live.
They evacuated part of the airport and probably did not allow any planes to pull up to the gate. So then, passengers had to sit however long in a plane on the tarmac.
