Manhunt for Kentucky highway shooter continues into third day

Something's off, a copy cat case that's a little too convenient. Just like the recent Georgia school killings the suspect is said to have sent a warning via text to a woman saying what he was going to do and kill himself after. And he did it 1/2 hour prior just the mom in Georgia.

This may not be as random as it seems.
 
Imagine you're just driving along, minding your business and get shot! This is insane. From what I saw on the news, he's probably hiding in a huge unpopulated area that is like a thick forest. I wouldn't be surprised if he's offed himself already. I don't understand why people do this! They should just kill their fool selves and spare innocent people!

We have had several called in school threats around here since the Winder shooting. And as it is continually mentioned in both national and local news, more idiots are going to be tempted to....

I don't think it's random either but what do I know? He's ex military and ex law enforcement. He will be hard to find in those dense woods. If this is happening to scare people it's working in my case. Being shot off the highway is not how I want to spend my day. :unsure:

No, the identification should be 100%, before such an announcement.

Having said that, the evidence at the scene... strongly suggests it is Joseph Couch. Critters might have altered certain facial features.
 
Identification isn’t as fast as on the TV shows. Considering they’re suggesting it might be him, it probably is. They don’t want to make a mistake.

Which would likely take the same timing as a rapid DNA test, when you consider dental records would need to be collected, etc.

As far as condition of the body, they were able to locate it, by searching an area with a large presence of turkey vultures.
 
I'd like to know what caused him to go off the deep end. He was suicidal and wanted to take a few innocent people with him. With these situations, it's often loss of a job combined with relationship problems. He was also ex-military, which is a common thread among many mass shooters.
 
The latest I've heard is that while the discovered body had indeed died of a self inflicted gunshot, it was too decomposed to give conclusive DNA results. This highway shooting thing is a fairly recent incident... would it have *been* so horribly decomposed that they couldn't get conclusive DNA in that short time? Or did the bounty hunters happen to find someone else? Is there more recent news than that?

EDIT: Self inflicted... so the gun would have been near him. Couldn't they match that up with the ammo used in the highway shootings?

Yes. They could. And why couldn't they use his dental records to positively I.D. him. This case is weird. Somebody get me a tinfoil hat because this is making me so suspicious. :unsure:
 
Don't assume it's the same weapon used to kill himself. If a shotgun were used there may not enough intact dental material to do a quick match or match at all. If it's been there awhile the head could be elsewhere due to some animal activity.
