Marine taken into custody after missing 14-year-old girl is found in barracks of California base

Weird one would assume military bases as secure facility who vets anyone entering base.......and not a place to hide a runaway teen in your room..........

certainly someone who is a member of military should be able to not bring a minor on base ..... possibly commit statutory rape etc ..... Since NCIS is looking into we most likely will not hear what is found.....

what is going on that people no longer seem mad at the complete disregard of law and order.
the security Gap that allowed such a thing should have any and all members who missed letting someone in should be punished accordingly

I wonder how old is the service guy. When I was a teenager I was with an older teenager. I wonder what will come of this.

I heard from some of my former collogues that a Marine found her and sold her for sex to other Marines. I don't know exactly what's going on here, but I will get more details as this case unwinds. Everyone seems to have small bits and pieces or they are adding their own details to the story. Right now, I think everyone that is involved is covering their butts, or at least, they are trying to.

Good point, my wife was 14 and I was 18 when we met, admittedly we never got up to any bedroom athletics but we weren't exactly, well behaved.

If you get the truth, please post. I am curious about how this all came about.

The victim 14 had a history of running away from home but always return according to the grandmother. The Marine seems to be from a support unit.

But how did he get this girl, where did they meet-online? A support unit would have more access to computers. I don't know if this girl could pass for 21 in a bar.

Lots of unknowns in this case....
How many 14 year old runaways can enter and stay on military bases unnoticed?
Are we to believe they keep anyone out?
I have bases near me......... looks like a big process to get someone on base who should NOT be there.
Lets just remove the gates come one come all

From Marines .com website:
"Courage is the mental, moral and physical strength ingrained in Marines. It carries us through the challenges of combat and aids in overcoming fear. It is the inner strength that enables us to do what is right, to adhere to a higher standard of personal conduct and to make tough decisions under stress and pressure."

How many young Marines could not see she was too young or had mental disabilities according to articles and was on base in secret ..... yet no one spoke up?

ironic to me people all over say if you see something say something..... signs all over airports asking people to watch for trafficking and to alert
but NOPE .....just look away and never mind nothing to see here.

Its not difficult to get on a military base. Especially if one has a military sticker on their car. Some are more difficult than others depending on what is kept on the base, but for the most part its easy.

one near me must have something good there then practically a body search even with good papers....

No name of the Marine, but he has been released and sent back to his command, pending the outcome of the continuing investigation.
Thanks for the update. This is sounding strange. If the Marine brought the 14 year old into the barracks and hid her, now they released him, I’m beginning to think a part of this story is missing. Maybe it’s just the cop in me, but I have a few questions that need answered.

I think this happened in Camp Pendleton, if so maybe this should be no surprise.

When I was in the Air Force, one guy brought a girl onto the base and had her stay in the barracks for several days and she was never discovered.

Some guys made friends with an Iranian national, and they got him on the base too.

She's 14. She lives with her grandmother. There is a red flag. There are issues to say the least in this family. That tells you so right there unless a parent has died. And that would be trauma also. This girl is looking for something. Don't go for the jail bait buddy no matter how mature she seems.

I have heard the stories. One Marine in South Carolina took a pair of twins into his barracks supposedly for 2 days and nights. It's hard to believe with so much to risk.

Before we string up and hang the Marine, he wasn't charged with anything, YET. But the fact that he wasn't immediately throw in the brig, does indicate there was no sexual component. Regardless of the rumors, there is scant information about the girl's stay in the barracks. And a Marine Corps barracks is not a militarily secure area. People come and go all day long.

You never heard of this?
Marines Arrested

I’m surprised that made it in the paper. Nothing about the 2 Marines found dead on the Mud Run, if you heard of that. One day they were there and the next day they were gone. No one seemed to know anything. I was glad to get out of there.
